Working with rebar to frame a dome
Getting land to live off grid has not been the most expensive part of home ownership for some time now building materials have been keeping people sleeping on their dreams. Hurricanes and disasters creating worldwide resets has Jamaicans emptying hardware stores of cement and other essential materials. The NHT recently gave the green light to sandbag building now even filling sandbags are slowly reaching the equivalent of using cement blocks.
I have been anticipating building on a low budget; studying alternatives to cement and lumber like cob, and bamboo. But even those methods and materials require an expense of manpower and resources that seem out of reach. I stumbled upon a video of a dome being built by s single person out of rebar, bamboo and cement A half ton of steel at 36 foot lengths could build a starter dome with its shape and form open to your imagination.
